- Thread: OOC: Avians and Reptiles, Skyland Populations
Arbitrarily assigned populations. I just did this to kill some time, so I didn't really think too hard about the numbers. Feel free to ignore, rage, cover with glitter or whatever.
- The artificial skylands (Alphas, Fuseli, Uurwerk, Islo) have the smallest populations
- Cidade, Grotto and Midgard have the largest
Wikia has been trialling new userpages for a while now. They're basically the same, but there is one technical difference that would affect the Skybrary: You will only be able to edit your own user page.
Skybrary users have been allowed to use any page in userspace they like, but the Skybrary is the only wiki I know of that allows it. Your userpage is meant for you to talk about yourself and provides a way to contact you; being able to share on topic stuff (e.g. character bios) is secondary.
I don't know if or when Wikia will activate the new userpages on older wikis, but here are some alternatives.
- 1 Solutions
- 1.1 Subpages
- 1.2 Sockpuppets
- 1.3 Custom namespace
Subpages are a convenient way of sharing anything that's on topic and using them means that …
Random stuff from my Skyrates folder...
- Islo and Dalhoum: Bromance or Romance?
- Fuseli: Confirmed Bachelor?
- Clara: The Joys of Celibacy.
- Eltsina: The Joys of Male Harems.
- Shining One: Down With Pants or Up With Miniskirts?
Crossposting from the Earthen Order forum because they didn't seem to have much interest in it. This was just something silly I wrote up for the Earthen Order because brown is always complaining about how everyone thinks they're so serious or whatever.
In a large, disused hall on Lhasa, many casks of wines, juices and other beverages from all over Skytopia were being set up. As the last of the casks were placed along the walls, a small creamy rabbit climbed up onto a table and made an announcement to anybody who turned up early.
"As you know, Skytopia's wineries have finished shipping another batch of wines and others drinks for the Order to use."
"Being for the most important of sacraments, these precious fluids need to be rigorously testing…
I'm sure somebody has noticed this before:
Dammit Azure League, you just can't follow the pattern, can you? :C
I wrote this for the Hidden War roleplay thread... but since nobody really knew what we were meant to be doing, I decided not to post it. I also wrote a few other draft posts, but this is probably the most interesting in a generic sense. Of course, being generic, I didn't feel like it really added anything.
Independents are just pilots who failed the Azure League entrance exam!
The joke is that the Azure League doesn't have an entrance exam.
More stuff from my Skyrates folder. This was in response to the Crimson Empire claim that they are the heirs of Magnus (although, I suppose it's mostly Thorne who would claim such). Since players are often unanimous in their praise of Magnus and his Kingdom as a force for good, I decided to go the opposite route.
Some more stuff from my Skyrates folder: a hastily researched article on the possible etymology of skyland names.
- Aleut is named after the Aleutian Islands, a chain of islands between Alaska and Russia. Aleut is derived from aliat, meaning island.
- Arcadia is a name for a rural utopia, derived from the Greek province of the same name.
- Cidade is Spanish for city (the joke being continued on the Skybrary with municipio being appended). It is pronounced si-da-de (or si-da-je in Brazilian Portugeuse).
- Earthbreach ????
- Echo is the letter E in the NATO phonetic alphabet. Noptis may have derived from the Romanian nopţi, meaning nights, I have no idea.
- Eltsina is the feminine form of Eltsin, a Russian surname, e.g., Boris Yeltsin and Naina Yeltsina.
- Fuseli likely…
Idle musing about the Crimson Dawn. May contained unfinished thoughts.
Little is known about the origins of the magnificent battleship, except that it is a marvel of pre-Upheaval technology. Some historians believe that the Crimson Dawn and Scarlet Blade were actually decommissioned craft, allowing them to survive the Great Upheaval relatively unscathed, albeit, missing much of their equipment.
The restoration of the battleship was one of the first large undertakings by the fledgling Commonwealth. To keep the restoration a secret and prevent a pre-emptive strike from pirates or warlords, the project was broken down into many smaller projects. The Silverbacks, Svendheim's original mercenary group, oversaw the recovery of parts while developme…
Just dumping this here... I was going to make it an article, but I dunno. May contain unfinished thoughts/sentences.
The Black is a colloquialism for the uncharted regions beyond the borders of Skytopia and the Barrens. Skylands of the Black are often unstable or move erratically making them difficult to track.
However, there are pockets of stability where populated skylands can be found, although travel to and from such places is often restricted by the distances involved.
Exploration of the Black is usually a large undertaking and mostly done to expand Skytopia's limited resources. The easiest way to get minerals, especially unobtainium, is to simply rip apart a barren skylet. Meanwhile, soil rich skylets can be brought back to Skytopian airs…

You know; this weekend has been rather good to me. Drill was this weekend, so that is always a plus. We had our rifle qualifications this weekend which everyone at the battery was psyched about. We rarely get a chance to use our rifles and finally the time of the year had come. We were blessed to be able to pull the trigger and send rounds downrange even if the weather was rather unfortunate. All good things come to a close and sadly a bit too soon for our schedule. First day half our battery qualed and fantastically at that. Second day....monsoon. We got up all bright and cheery and ran out the barracks into the forming of a small lake. As the day progressed the rain never let up. Soon the range safety officer official…
I am trying to get back into the routine of writing. I like to write stories and perhaps will publish oneday, but lately this whole writer's block has me in this rut I can not seem to crawl out of. The only way I know of breaking free was to just start writing (or in this case typing) anything and everything. Well...here ya' go. As for what i'm doing as of this moment. Trying to write a short story for FA (Fur Affinity for those who don't know) and am succeeding slightly. If I can get my MW (Microsoft Word) to keep working without randomly deleting things. I would be peachy.
Uh I'm not quite sure what to do, since no one here has posted a blog post, but I'll give it a shot.
So I think most Skytopians seem to think the wiki has been generally "out of date" and neglected for a long time, so I recently tried to help by reducing the amount of pages in the Needs Update category. All individual plane pages are now up to date, I've added a "Defunct" category for marking off features no longer in the game, and I've standardized some templates used on the planes pages to make editing easier.
So far most of what we have left in the Needs Update category itself are Skyland pages (they need plane locations), special combats (I'm waiting to see what returns) and upgrades, which we only have about half-done.
