The pitbull of the sky looks as mad as a mule chewing on bumblebees. During the Principality Wars, the Commonwealth churned out Mastiffs by the thousands in a desperate attempt to survive. Their plan worked but very few of these work horses survived.
The CF-40 Mastiff is a twin-engine monoplane fighter produced during the Principality Wars. The unusual "hawk-nose" design was intended to accomodate the craft's twin front cannons and their gigantic magazines, but ultimately restricted its ability to turn quickly, as doing so caused the plane to flip uncontrollably. As such the Mastiff was limited to an assault role, but was used effectively in the defense of Midgard.
Mastiffs may have their two small arcs overlapping in the front, but they're still just small arcs. Their back arc has a single small arc, as seen, and nothing on their sides. If your gun arc is long enough to reach their wide wings it shouldn't be hard to shoot them down, especially if you've got a Thor or better. Nomads, I'd suggest you try to get in front of them, shoot them with your medium rear gun, and if they catch up, maybe do a wingover or something like that, and keep shooting.
