wikicode? Edit

Wow. Someone who actually seems to know some wikicode. Very nice. Thanks for the help! --Calvin November t/c on 06:27, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

I was looking over http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Resources_for_collaboration and think the Skybrary may benefit from a few of the templates such as, maybe, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cleancat, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Uncategorized, and, especially, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cleanup. Would you have any interest in transposing any of these over to the Skybrary? --Calvin November t/c on 01:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, I wonder if any of these are buried somewhere within Wikia already. --Calvin November t/c on 01:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Protection questionEdit

Hmm, wasn't sure what the issue was with The Last Tortugan Skyrate that it needed to be protected. Category:Lore and Fiction definitely needs to be cleaned up, seems like it is all jumbled. — MrDolomite • Talk 03:38, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I generally would like to protect anything that is unique work, though, I'll admit, my attendance to that goal has been sorely lacking since I've gotten my account fixed. Other than that, you are right about the lore section. By and by, thank you for all the little points you've been helping us with (and as Calvin said, you know wikicode!). If you don't mind me asking, who are you? I've never seen a "Mr. Dolomite" on Skyrates. --Hans "Firefox" Raginhart 20:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
For what it's worth, we've got a Wing called Skybrary Staff housed at Echo. Given the volume of work you've put into the Skybrary, you should sign-up! --Calvin November t/c on 15:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Stub-tastic Edit

I was trying to organize some pages that needed some help into stubs, but after adding a few, I saw that the stub template already had a link to the category:stubs page. It says on the template for stubs that pages with the tag are supposed to be added to the stubs category, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Should I add them manually with the category tag, or should the stubs template page be altered somehow to do it automatically? Thanks! - Cid O 17:40, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I also added the category stubS and added some pages to it. I'll go back and take out the category on these pages shortly and see if the stub template will take care of the problem once you've played around with it. -- Cid O! ·T· 21:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Editing the upgrades pages. Edit

Hey there. I just did some updates on the upgrades page, and added some overview pages to the other kinds of mods, like you have done for the Engine Kit section, only I can't figure out how to get it to show up under "*" instead of alphabetically like the rest. Can you help out? Arturo Fox 20:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply, and for the information. I'll try to fix my entries later on today [edit: you've already done that...thanks again]. As for the difference, it is totally that I can't figure out how to delete a #$&^#$* page. ;) I moved your scratch page that was there and fixed it's formatting before I noticed that you'd already done it in a different entry, and then I couldn't figure out how to delete it. Feel free to revert out of my changes on that article, and/or tell me how to delete the blasted thing. Arturo Fox 11:50, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Image copywrite (springcat) Edit

As I did the Springcat mugshot from public domain pics, it's copyright me, actually, but I'll post it PD so peeps can use it. I can;t see a spot to add that info to the file, tho... Springcat 16:14, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: copyright tagsEdit

Re: [[Image:TommySadisticaV2.JPG]] - Sure. Just let me know which one to use. - Lert 15:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I think we've talked about this before, but I'm not sure where "we landed the plane". Images such as [[:Image:Mild's Veng model.gif]] and Image:Naes Draw mug.png aren't screenshots per se, they're more like derivative works. Which license should we be using with these? --Calvin November t/c on 15:18, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: {{Screenshot+dw}}, looks great! A nice compromise. I've added it to MediaWiki:Licenses --Calvin November t/c on 20:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the tag tips. I'm confused as to which tag to pick if a friend drew it per my request, and I colored it? I was looking at the "by"" tags but I can't find the page that explains what they are. Thanks! 24.254.224.78 02:36, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, he drew it for me and said I could do whatever I wanted with it. Honestly, neither of us cares if someone "steals" the damned thing; it's just a drawing.

re: Unification Banner Edit

Howdy! I'm brand new to wiki-foo and I am afraid that looking at the list of tags only made me more confused. The banner was made by FIREFOX as I attributed beneath it, and it is used with his permission. I asked his permission to place it on the wiki, and he granted it, but I am not sure how it fits under the various 'creative commons' and other choices in the templates you linked to me. Skybrary Staff Wing Edit

Re this... Done! Welcome back. --Calvin November t/c on 17:38, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Flags and hats Edit

No problem. I had the flags sitting around from my Travelogue research, and figured they'd serve the purpose for the faction pages. I won't worry too much about the hat, since I'm not blue any more, either. --Eskay@Octavo 17:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Wiki bot? Edit

I was wondering, would you know how to make and use a (very very simple) wiki bot? An easy solution to the resetting problem would be make a bot, and when it's activated, it finds all pages with the {{resetprone}} template, and adds either the {{reset}} template or a new {{needsupdate}} template that says the page may be out of date due to a reset and has a message asking for corrections, and that reset/needsupdate template can be removed to show it's done. Should be pretty simple for a bot, but I have no idea how to make one inthe first place--Kitteh 04:42, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

I too, have no bot knowledge, but I do know that the AutoWikiBrowser tool (wikipedia:WP:AWB) can be used for these kinds of swaps. — MrDolomite • Talk 07:38, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Something wrong with my account Edit

Excuse me Mister Dolomite, but I'm having a problem with my account.

I want to edit my page, but I can't. But when I log out, I can edit it. Isn't that weird? If you know what I have to do, just answer ^^

PS: I use CometBird as web browser

PPS: I tried to send this message with my account, but it only worked after I logged out...

Explaining my question Edit

No Mister Dolomite. When I said that I use CometBird as a Web Browser, I meant that I use a CometBird instead of Internet Explorer or Firefox!

PS: My username is DigiFoxy. It's at citizens and pirates category.

PPS: Like I said before, I can only edit my page or send messages when I'm logged out!

  • Hmm, test edit with CometBird. — MrDolomite • Talk 02:34, February 15, 2010 (UTC)
  • Heh, sorry about that. I never heard of CometBird. Now that I understood, I installed it on Windows XP, I was able to make edits of articles and talk pages both with and without being logged in. The editing screen definitely looked different in CometBird, but I was able to make and save edits. Not sure what to tell you since it worked for me. :( — MrDolomite • Talk 02:38, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Unable to login/create account Edit

Hello, Mr. Dolomite!

I have a problem: I can't create an account with my Skyrates username (Kevin McDonald). When I try to create an account under that name, I am told that it is already in use, but I am 99% sure I have not created an account yet.

Do you know what's up?

Thanks for your help!

68.78.91.28 05:37, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

  • Did you mean an account here on the wiki, or inside the actual Skyrates game?

So I do not see a reason why it would not let you create a wiki userid. If it says the userid exists, use the "forgot password" option and it will email you a password reset link. — MrDolomite • Talk 06:02, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I meant an account here on the wiki. :)

I used the "forgot password:" option and check all of my email accounts, but I did not get anything. Nothing got sent to the spam folder, either.

So, I have no idea what's wrong with it. :( 68.78.91.28 14:10, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Accounts are Wikia wide; anybody could have registered with that username on any Wikia wiki. That said, the account appears to be unused, so you could try contacting Wikia to see if they will let you take it over. -- Kasarn 14:57, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

  • I emailed Wikia, so now we'll just have to wait and see what happens. :) Thanks for the help, guys! -68.78.91.28 22:01, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

I decided to just go ahead and create an account with a space between the "C" and the "D" in McDonald. :) -Kevin Mc Donald 01:33, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Deleted images. Edit

Did you back up those images of mine you deleted last february? They were all made by me. Camaro 07:10, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
